Bad news if you’re planning to visit one of the country’s greatest landmarks.
Officials are announcing that the Washington Monument will be closed until 2019 to upgrade its elevator with a new computer system, USA Today reports.
Businessman and philanthropist David Rubenstein is donating $2-$3 million for the renovation. He previously gifted $7.5 million to repair the monument after it was left damaged in a 2011 earthquake.
