The Department of Transportation is announcing that changes are coming to airplanes to improve the in-flight experience for those with disabilities and impairments.

Its ACCESS Advisory Committee has decided that short- and long-term measures will be taken to fix the issue of inaccessible restrooms aboard single-aisle aircraft. Currently, many impaired fliers avoid drinking so they won’t have to go to the bathroom.

For the most part, airlines do not provide in-flight entertainment with captioning or audio descriptions. Under the agreement, certain movies and shows will be captioned for those that are deaf or hard of hearing. The blind or visually impaired will have access to audio described entertainment.
