It seems like every time we turn around, Disney is switching up its admission prices. The last time there was a price hike at Walt Disney World, adult admission to the Magic Kingdom rose to $105 and $99 for Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Now, the company is announcing that it will conduct surveys to gauge guests’ receptiveness of an admission system based on surge or demand pricing. According to the Wall Street Journal, on slower days of the year, tickets would cost less or come with some special perks, while tickets on busier days would have a higher price tag or more restrictions. When prices for regular admission see an increase, the cost for annual passes usually goes up, too. At Walt Disney World, you can choose a Deluxe Platinum Pass for $829 or the Disney Platinum Pass for $749. The more expensive option provides access to the four parks with Park Hopper, parking, water park admission, access to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course, the ability to download photos and videos from Disney’s PhotoPass, and special offers and discounts for Disney resort stays, dining, tours, merchandise, and recreation.
The Disney Platinum Pass includes all of the components of the Deluxe Pass, except for water park, ESPN Wide World of Sports, and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course access.
Disneyland wasn’t spared from the price increase, either. Visitors can choose from three types of annual passes: the Disney Deluxe Passport, the Disney Signature Passport, and the Disney Signature Plus Passport.
The Disney Deluxe Passport is $599 and includes admission to both parks on select days with Park Hopper, parking, the ability to download PhotoPass photos, and discounts and offers on resort hotels, dining, merchandise, tours, and recreation. The Disney Signature Passport is $849 and includes all components of the cheaper passport, but provides theme park access on most days of the year. At $1,049, the Disney Signature Plus Passport lets passholders use it every day of the year and gives them everything else the other passes feature.
