As more people are taking to the skies this Thanksgiving, plenty of others are hitting the rails – prompting Amtrak to accommodate the jump in riders.

The company is announcing that it will implement additional trains and extra seats on select Northeast, Midwest, and West Coast routes.

The Northeast’s Acela Express and Northeast Regional routes will see additional services and added capacity between Washington, DC and Boston. There will be more trains in use on Nov. 22, 23, and 27.

For Midwest travelers, extra trains will run between Chicago and downstate Illinois and Michigan. Traveling on the West Coast? Amtrak will expand capacity to Capitol Corridor, San Joaquins, and Pacific Surfliner. There will also be two more trips between Seattle and Portland aboard Amtrak Cascades.
