21c Museum Hotels, a group of art-centric boutique hotels, is opening its fifth property in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. The building is the former home of the Fayette National Bank.

There are 88 rooms and suites at 21c Lexington. They all have high ceilings, custom contemporary furniture, and artwork. Rates are from $199 for a deluxe king room.

The on-site restaurant, Lockbox, incorporates seasonal ingredients to create a frequently changing menu. Grab a table at the bar and lounge for a craft cocktail. Some of Lockbox’s unique features include an art installation that changes color depending on the next day’s weather forecast to cast a glow over the venue, and a private dining room that’s housed in the bank’s original safe deposit vault.

As 21c was founded by contemporary art collectors, art is at the core of the hotel experience. The property hosts rotating exhibitions, installation, and curated cultural programs. Specific to this outpost, there are six permanent installations called “Elemental,” inspired by changing natural and human conditions. Free public tours are available at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays.
