The airline industry is always changing. Here’s what you can expect the next time you take a flight.

The New York Post reports that the Port Authority is considering a $2-$4 fee on all taxis, Uber cars, and other for-hire vehicles going to the New York area’s major airports. The Port Authority claims the fees could potentially combat the airports’ growing congestion.

Virgin America, Frontier, Allegiant, Spirit, and Alaska Airlines want federal regulators to make it easier for small carriers to obtain takeoff and landing seats at JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark Liberty airports, according to the Wall Street Journal. The area’s air market – the largest in the U.S. – is dominated by American Airlines Group Inc., United Continental Holdings Inc., Delta Air Lines Inc., and Southwest Airlines Co.

Traveling with Frontier or Spirit this holiday season? The ultra-low-cost airlines are taking the Scrooge-like measure of tacking on surcharges to its baggage fees. According to TIME, Frontier Airlines is increasing fees for both carry-on and checked baggage by $5-$10 for flights scheduled between Nov. 19 and Jan. 5, 2016, as well as next Feb. 11 to April 4 and June 9 to Aug. 16. Spirit is only hiking the checked bag fees, but passengers will still have to fork out an extra $2 per bag.
