Traveling is getting more and more expensive, and according to a new survey, depending on where you go, you can even put a price on happiness. NY1's Valarie D'Elia filed the following Travel with Val report.

When the recent United States government-funded World Values Survey came out naming Denmark the happiest place on earth, Valarie D'Elia just happened to be in Copenhagen on a sunny summer day.

"I'm happy with my life," said one Denmark resident. "I have my own house, a wife, and two children. I'm happy."

"We've got a welfare system where you take care of each other, if I end up sick somebody is going to take care of me," said another.

Some of the other happy places in the world include Puerto Rico and Colombia, South America, along with Northern Ireland, Ireland, Iceland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada, and Sweden. The United States ranked 16th out of 97 nations on the happiness meter.
