The U.S. is No. 1 when it comes to the number of flight departures in 2014.

According to WorldBank.org via TravelPulse, there were about 36 million flights that took off last year, with 9,553,214 registered departures coming from this country alone.

Though that figure is astounding, the number of flights have decreased since 2010, during which there were 10,095,197 flights.

Below, the top 10 countries for registered carrier departures in 2014:
