According to the Department of Transportation, the airlines were able to put $25.6 billion into their pockets in 2015.

CNN Money reports that total operating revenue was $168.9 billion last year — a slight dip from 2014’s $169.3 billion. Of that, $126.9 billion came from fares, $3.8 billion from baggage fees, and $3 billion from reservation change fees.
