Savor the last weekend of summer in the lap of luxury with a quick trip to the Gold Coast of Connecticut that’s just a train ride away. NY1′s Valarie D’Elia filed the following report.

Some might consider it a daily commute, but for those who live in the city, or simply want a mini-vacation with a European flair, the Metro-North New Haven line can provide a quick getaway to ease out of summer into fall.

Two sister hotels in Connecticut, Delamar Southport and Delamar Greenwich, are within walking distance to the train stations. Additionally each provides a fancy-dancy shuttle service to drive guests within a three-mile radius who choose to leave the lap of luxury.

With 84 rooms and suites, Delamar Greenwich (www.delamargreenwich.com; Reservation Number: 1-866-335-2627) is twice the size of its more eastern counterpart. What sets it apart is its harborfront location and proximity to famed Greenwich Avenue shopping.

It also has more of a spa, while the Delamar Southport has an intimate spa suite.

While not directly on the water, Delmar Southport (www.delamarsouthport.com; Reservation Number: 1-203-259-2900) is a quick bike ride away from lovely Southport Harbor. The Southport property is home to Artisan, a culinary hot-spot for the discerning Fairfield County crowd. An outdoor patio is a popular dining option for the warmer weather.

One quirky feature in Southport is an arty showroom that was once a ramp leading onto nearby I-95.

Each resort is offering a special D’Elia’s Deal for one-night stays through October 30 that provide a 25-percent discount off the room rate. • At the Delamar Southport, get a $50 credit per room for dinner at Artisan. • A stay in Delmar Greenwich provides an automatic upgrade, based on availability, and a $50 spa gift certificate.
