A new study, reports CBS News, concludes that disabled travelers still face obstacles in the U.S. – despite the Americans with Disabilities Act being passed 25 years ago.

The survey, conducted by the Open Doors Organization, was taken by 1,300 adults with disabilities such as blindness, deafness, cognitive issues, or a condition that limits at least one physical activity.

Seventy-two percent of participants report obstacles when traveling, including physical barriers, customer service issues, or communications problems when dealing with airlines. Sixty-five percent say they have problems at airports.

Though the numbers seem high, this is actually an improvement from a decade ago, when the numbers were 84 percent and 82 percent, respectively.

Over the past two years, more than 26 million disabled adults have traveled for business or leisure.
