Did you stay at a Starwood property in North America between March 2 and April 16, 2015?

The company is announcing that it recently became aware of a malware intrusion that affected some point of sale systems – not data reservation systems – at dozens of its properties.

The malware allowed unauthorized parties to access some customers’ payment card data if they visited the properties’ restaurants, bars, or shops and used their credit or debit cards.

The malware had the potential to collect information like cardholders’ names, card numbers, security codes, and expiration dates. Starwood insists that contact information, Social Security numbers, or PINs were not affected. It is offering one-year identity protection and credit monitoring service to any affected customers.

Impacted properties include the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin, The Westin New York Grand Central, Sheraton New Orleans, and W Retreat and Spa – Vieques Island. A full list can be found online.
