It’s no secret that resort fees are a nuisance, but if a proposed bill passes, they could be a thing of the past.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill is proposing a bill that would prohibit hotels from charging hidden resort fees. If passed, hotels would have to disclose and include the full cost in the room rate.

USA Today reports that the fees are often imposed on amenities and service – from the pool and fitness facilities to coffee and newspapers.

McCaskill proposes that the Federal Trade Commission would enforce the law, which would prohibit advertising a hotel room that doesn’t include all required fees.
