There will be no more breeding of orcas at SeaWorld, the company is announcing.

The creatures will live out their lives at the parks’ habitats. The killer whale shows will be a thing of the past, too, as the company will debut what it’s calling “natural orca” encounters that focus on the same behaviors that the whales have in the wild.

This will begin in 2017 at the San Diego park, then in San Antonio, and in Orlando in 2019.

The move comes nearly three years after SeaWorld came under fire for its treatment of killer whales and their trainers in the documentary Blackfish.
