Still paying with cash at New York City bridges and tunnels? You’ll want to read this.

Gov. Cuomo is announcing that toll gates will be replaced by automatic toll plazas at several crossings, including the Queens-Midtown and Brooklyn-Battery tunnels, and the Verrazano, Robert F. Kennedy, Whitestone, Throgs Neck, Henry Hudson, Marine Parkway, and Cross Bay bridges. Look for the changes by the end of 2017.

Drivers with E-ZPass will be automatically charged; those who don’t have them will get their license plates scanned to have the bill sent in the mail, NBC New York reports.

In addition to the new tolls, the crossings will be updated with LED lighting, and tunnels will be outfitted with automatic gates to stave off flooding.
