The Philippines government is looking to provide free Wi-Fi throughout the country in the coming year, Skift reports.

At a cost of 1.5 billion pesos annually — $32 million — the service will be bring connectivity to airports, parks, public schools, and hospitals, among other locales.

According to statistics from research firm International Data Corp., accessing the Internet in the Philippines cost $18 a megabit per second – more than three times the $5 global average.

The free Wi-Fi will be capped off at 256 kilobits per second, or just enough to search the web or do some Facebooking.
