Here’s a program we’re totally on board with.

The Subway Sleuths program at the New York Transit Museum is designed for second through fifth graders on the autism spectrum. Many of those on the spectrum are drawn to the subway because of its predictability and set pattern.

The 10-week program is being recognized by the White House and First Lady Michelle Obama for its success in promoting learning and life skills in young people through creative programming.

The pint-sized participants take part in solving train mysteries, playing games, and learning more about trains. Sessions are led by a special education teacher, speech language pathologist, and an educator from the museum.

The cost is $350 for the 10 sessions, which take place when the museum is closed.
