After a Palestinian gunman shot himself and wounded six people outside a Roman amphitheater in downtown Amman on Wednesday, the U.S. Embassy in Jordan is cautioning American citizens to avoid the site.

The embassy warned Americans visiting Jordan to maintain a high level of security caution, particularly in crowded areas such as restaurants, hotels and shopping centers, according to the Associated Press.

Police say the young gunman had no links to terrorist groups.
