The pink taxis in Key West are actually green – or eco-friendly, that is.

In early July 2008, the Five Sixes Taxi company debuted 10 hybrid cab cars and expects to have many more hitting the roads.

According to the company, the taxis will get about 38 miles per gallon, compared to 12 to 13 miles per gallon of non-hybrid vehicles.

By March 2009, Five Sixes Taxis will replace 13 of its cars with hybrids.
