Ads Appear at Check In
Five airlines have found another way to increase revenue in the wake of rising fuel costs.
Advertising will be added to the boarding passes of fliers who do their check in from home.
On Tuesday, passengers who checked in online for Delta’s Las Vegas flights saw coupons, weather reports and promotions on their passes, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Passes can be printed without the ads and they download quickly, to avoid annoying customers.
Other airlines that will add the advertisements in the coming months include Continental, United, Northwest, and US Airways. Some online boarding passes will announce the weather, restaurant options and city attractions.
