UA Joins AA Bag Charge

United Airlines says that it is joining the list of airlines charging their passengers to check baggage, reports ny1news.

United said it will begin charging $15 to check a bag each way.

United says the fee will be applied to customers who buy tickets beginning tomorrow for domestic flights from August 18th on.

The carrier is also increasing the fee to check three or more bags, overweight bags, or items that require special handling.

The fees come as the airlines try to find ways to offset rising fuel costs.
