Airports Install Body Scanners
Images of people’s bodies are now part of security measures at 10 airports across the country.
The Transportation Security Administration recently began using the body scanners in Los Angeles, Baltimore, Denver, Albuquerque and New York's JFK airport. Passengers have been randomly selected.
This month, the Dallas, Detroit, Washington, D.C., Las Vegas and Miami airports will be adding them.
Scanners could replace metal detectors at the 2,000 U.S. airport checkpoints.
The scanners bounce harmless waves off passengers, according to a USA Today report. Suspicious objects appear in a shade different from that of the body.
Passengers faces are being blurred and images are deleted after viewing.
Those who decline to go through a scanner must go through a pat-down.
