Having your luggage go missing or get delayed or mishandled is never pleasant. Fortunately, this news may give you some solace.

There is a new law, the Consumerist reports, that requires airlines to refund its passengers any baggage fees that were paid if the bag isn’t delivered within 12 hours of a domestic flight arrival. For international flights, you’ll get your money back within 15 hours of arriving.

You will, of course, have to notify the carrier that your luggage is delayed or lost. Expect regulations to come within a year.
