We always count on mass transit to get us around the city, from work and home to a night out on the town.

A new exhibit at the New York Transit Museum is giving us a glimpse at how the city’s transit workers prepare for and respond to all sorts of disasters through images, artifacts, audio, multimedia, and more.

There are four areas to the Bringing Back the City: Mass Transit Responds to Crisis exhibit, each dedicated to the responses to the Sept. 11 attacks, the blackout of 2003, wicked weather like Hurricane Irene and the 2010 blizzard, and Superstorm Sandy.

Adult admission is $7 and $5 for visitors 2-17 years old.
