Clothes? Check. Shoes? Check. Passport? Check. Vaccinations? Nope.

According to the Huffington Post, new research suggests that many U.S. travelers aren’t receiving the recommended vaccines that would protect them from certain illnesses abroad.

One study that was cited finds that more than half of those who were recommended for a measles shot did not get one before traveling. It claims that one of the most common reasons people gave for not getting vaccinated is that they were not “concerned about illnesses.”

A separate study finds that more than 20 Americans were sickened with hepatitis A while visiting the Mexican resort town of Tulum earlier this year — and none of them were vaccinated before traveling, despite the hepatitis A vaccine being one of the recommended shots for those going to Mexico.
