Since Pandora, World of Avatar  opened in May at Walt Disney World, the exhilarating Flight of Passage attraction gives visitors the chance to soar on a dragon and become immersed in the Navi culture depicted in the top-grossing film.

Now, a new resort in the Disney area, is hoping to capitalize on the popularity with an Avatar-inspired package that gets fans inside two of Orlando’s newest destinations.

The Grove Resort & Spa Orlando is offering rates on residential-style accommodations from $300/per night for a family of four, with a four night minimum.

The Grove’s Avatar: Take Flight package includes the following:

  • Accommodations in a one, two or three bedroom suite
  • 1 day park pass to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
  • Transportation to and from Disney’s Ticket & Transportation Center
  • $100 credit to Alfresco Market, the resort’s grab-and-go serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner options
  • In-room welcome amenity featuring Avatar-inspired items:
    • Avatar movie poster
    • Avatar DVD
    • Avatar board game

The Grove’s one, two, and three bedroom suites sport full kitchens, multiple bathrooms, washers/dryers, screened balconies, and living and dining areas.

Located on a 106-acre spread, the resort rests on the edge of a portion of central Florida’s conservation grounds.  It features three swimming pools, two bars and lounges, a large-scale grab-and-go marketplace, a full-service spa, plus watersports, fishing, and boating from a lakeside pier.

What’s the Deal?

At first, what sounded like a super-spectacular deal turned into a pretty good deal when I had to dig deep to find a 4-night minimum stay requirement listed in the fine print.  Look at it this way–your first couple of nightly room rates are basically negated once you factor in the free theme park tickets and food allowance. Oh, and there’s the dreaded resort fee. $22.50 each night. Covers wifi, fitness center, free 800 number and international calls, whether you use these amenities or not.
