Caught up in the euphoria of the weary Euro? With the dollar getting stronger, it may be the best time to jetset to Europe to see just how much bang for your buck you can get.

Airfare to Europe is kept high by the increased demand from the U.S.

However, according to Airfarewatchdog founder George Hobica, there has been some softening in airfare prices for travel before mid-June and after mid-August.

“In general, fares to London are higher than to Germany or Spain. One strategy is to just get across the Atlantic cheaply and take a train from wherever you land,” he said.

Other alternatives include flying on Turkish Airlines via Istanbul and connecting to other European destinations. (Tip: The airline offers free city tours in Istanbul if you’re saddled with a long layover.)

Hobica also suggests searching flights to alternative airports to keep airfare costs down: instead of Heathrow, book a flight into London Gatwick, for example.
