Recently we told you about a study that revealed that only 8 percent of hotel reservations made in 2014 were made with a handheld device, but new data from Hotels.com tells a different story.

According to the website’s Hotel Price Index, a trend of last-minute bookings for same or next-day hotel stays has led to a surge in overall mobile bookings globally. Its data finds that there was an 80 percent increase in U.S. mobile demand in 2014 compared to 2013, and that 25 percent of transactions booked globally were on a mobile device.
