Upon arriving in the U.S., visitors from select countries are now being asked to give the government their social media information.

The measure is optional and is designed to weed out any potential terrorist threats, Politico reports. Those opting in can offer up their account names for websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

The move is drawing criticism, with some saying that it threatens free expression and poses both privacy and security risks to foreigners.
