The world’s first social impact cruise line is set to cease operations next summer.

Carnival Corp. is announcing that its Fathom line — which first sailed this past April — will shutter its cruises aboard the Adonia to Cuba and the Dominican Republic. The 704-passenger ship will return to sailing voyages for P&O Cruises.

Fathom’s mission was to bring cruisers closer to volunteer efforts, such as teaching English at local schools or helping build homes.

TravelPulse reports that Carnival intends to implement the concept of Fathom in its other lines.
