The world of Disney is always changing. We’ve got the latest news.

In response to recent terror attacks and mass shootings, the Walt Disney World theme parks – along with Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando – now have metal detectors at its entrances.

Disney is also using more local uniformed officers on property, along with dogs trained to detect body-worn explosives. Guests will be randomly selected for secondary screenings. Your best bet is to leave the hotel or house a bit earlier to help combat any backups at security checkpoints.

The company is discontinuing the sale of toy guns at both U.S. resorts. Additionally, guests ages 14 years and up can no longer wear costumes into the parks.

Once past security at the Magic Kingdom, perhaps you’ll want to grab lunch or dinner at Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen, the park’s newest restaurant. Announced in August, the eatery is the park’s first restaurant to open since the immensely popular Be Our Guest made its 2012 debut.

It has a Jungle Cruise theme and a menu featuring Asian, South American, and African cuisine; dishes include arepas and rice noodle bowls, alongside steak and seafood. According to the Orlando Sentinel, there are 222 seats spread across a mess hall, parlor, and hidden meeting room.
