This summer, New Orleans will celebrate the birthday of jazz legend and the Big Easy native, Louis Armstrong, with the Satchmo SummerFest.

The event will take place from July 31 to Aug. 3, 2008, free of charge, at the Louisiana State Museum's Old U.S. Mint.

The festival will include traditional and contemporary jazz, brass bands, a children's stage, food booths and vendor tents.

George Avakian, Armstrong's producer and friend, will speak.
