Amelia Island, located off the northeastern coast of Florida, is offering guests its "Pack Your Bags for Amelia Island" program that includes a room credit of up to $80 to compensate for checked baggage fees charged by many airlines.

Several of the island’s hotels, resorts and bed and breakfasts offer the program through Sept. 30, 2008 for stays of three or more nights, double occupancy. Guests must show the airline’s receipt for the checked luggage.

Participants in the "Pack Your Bags" program include the 1875 Florida House Inn, the oldest surviving hotel in the state, and the Ash Street Inn, located in downtown Fernandina Beach, with offers fresh-baked cookies and lemonade daily.
