We’ve got you covered on the latest headlines in the cruise industry. Here’s what’s happening:

China is shaping up to be the cruise industry’s next big destination. That’s no more apparent than the latest announcement from Carnival Corporation, the parent company of Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, and other brands. It is forming a joint venture in China that will launch the first multi-ship domestic cruise brand in the Chinese market.

The corporation is partnering with China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and the hope is that this will stimulate the country’s cruise industry, which is expected to eventually become the world’s largest cruise market. The plan is to purchase existing cruise ships and order new vessels. Additionally, the corporation will operate two additional cruise brands in China in 2017.

Also hitting the high seas is a new cruise line that will cater to all LGBT community members and their family and friends. The line, called Anteros Cruises, is set to launch in April 2017 with a 400-passenger, yacht-like vessel that will sail the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
