The new Legoland waterpark in California shows how the popular Danish stacking toy can practically become a way of life.

Families who want to beat the heat this summer can head west to a new waterpark in California and build more than just memories.

Manhattan’s skyline are among the many sites one can see in Carlsbad, Calif., at Legoland. This 128-acre family theme park located between San Diego and Anaheim is the first in the United States created by the Danish toymaker. There is another Legoland being built in Florida right now.

The New York skyline is one of 15,000 LEGO models in the California park. Years before its actual completion, One World Trade Center, otherwise known as “The Freedom Tower,” is proudly standing amongst a host of more established landmarks.

New this year to Legoland is a 5.5-acre waterpark, featuring Build-A-Raft River, where kids customize their inner tubes with soft LEGO bricks and float freely down a man-made river. It’s all topped off by a soaring waterfall dumping 500 gallons of water from a 45-feet-tall tower and a number of slides for slippery fun.

Imagination Station is a place where kids can build bridges, dams and cities out of DUPLO bricks and test them against the flow of water.

The waterpark is suitable for kids ages two to 12, and the littlest ones have their own area, Duplo Splash Safari. In general, children under 42 inches tall must be accompanied by an adult.
