jetBlue’s AYCJ Pass: So Many Flights, So Many Questions

So you got in under the wire and got one of those JetBlue “All You Can Jet” airline passes. The one with unlimited travel from September 7 to October. 6.
Sixty-plus destinations, and you don’t know the first thing about much of what you picked. And in some cases, you’re still not sure where you’re going, and how you’ll get there. Let alone where to stay.
How will this seemingly logistical nightmare get off the ground?
You’re far from alone. Get on Facebook and log into JetBlue’s “AYCJ”– All You Can Jet — page, where others in the same boat — or should we say — maybe on some of the same planes — are seeking answers. They don’t totally have it together, either. To be expected when you’re embarking on a month-long adventure. (And that’s what makes it an adventure.)
Here are the trials and tribulations of the members — nearly 6,000 strong – working feverishly to get plans firmed up before takeoff. Indeed, logistics — and the endless possibilities — are what make it so intriguing for those of us flying and those simply dreaming.
– Folks are looking for roommates in New York City and a hotel in Puerto Rico. Only on certain days, because they’re not going to be in either place for very long.
– Someone’s looking to share airport transportation in Costa Rica.
– Another’s getting on the bandwagon and offering a room for rent in New York.
– There are safety tips for sharing cars and hotels.
– Someone’s worried about hurricanes, and wondering if she should change her itinerary — again.
– How to pack?
– One entry simply implores, “Dominican Republic 9/11-9/14, where should I stay? Where should I eat? What should I do?”
– There’s word of a something called a JetBlue Planner for iPhones, iPods and iPads.
– There are actual networking events in New York and Chicago for newbie “AYCJers” to meet those who did the pass in the past and are bursting with advice.
– One itinerary talks about someone who’s flying into Portland, Maine, for the express purpose of getting a lobster lunch; then immediately flying out.
– There’s a tip on an Aruba hotel on Priceline.
– San Diego Restaurant Week is a hot topic.
– A link to a blog titiled “5 Types of Passengers You Might See When Traveling.”
– A plug for a travel guide feature in The New York Times called “36 Hours In” … which, according to the poster, has a guide for almost every city JetBlue flies to.
– A link to a blog titled: “How to pack for a journey with no luggage.” A respondent posts how tough that would be when you are going to places that have very different climates.
– A poster who looks to be all alone on this one, at least for now, writes:”No one’s Nantucket-ing???” A few respondents are still up in the air on that one, so to speak.
– The frustrations of an all-you-can-fly pass: “What’s the best way to get from Jamaica to Puerto Rico without having to fly all the way up to New York!?!? Is there no easier way?”
– And this query: “If you could only go to one place…would it be Denver or Salt Lake City? I’m trying to decide and need some help.”
There you have it. Endless possibilities. And endless budget suggestions as it appears, at least on Facebook, those flying are doing it by the seat of their pants.
Even if you’re not an “AYCJer”, it’s all intriguing advice for your next trip.
