The ability to quickly board your flight may soon be at your fingertips – literally.

Alaska Airlines has wrapped up a testing program in which 200 volunteer frequent fliers were able to use their fingerprints in lieu of boarding passes, according to USA Today.

The technology is being hailed as a way to improve airport security.

The test took place at California’s Mineta San Jose International Airport with participation from passengers who were either asked at the airport or invited via email.

They then underwent a 20-minute enrollment process and afterwards were able to use their fingerprints to access the TSA screening area through the CLEAR lane, which is a service that offers expedited security clearance similar to TSA Precheck – but for a $179 annual fee.

In the screening area, gate agents were able to pull up the fliers’ boarding passes once they used the fingerprint reader.
