Cyber criminals are always looking for ways to rip you off – even while traveling.

Syracuse University is offering up some ways to improve your cyber security while on the road.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Create strong passwords with a combination of numbers, letters, and special characters.
  2. Use secure networks and personal hotspots instead of public Wi-Fi.
  3. Pay with cash instead of credit.
  4. Use an encrypted hard drive.
  5. Disable Bluetooth and near field communication.
  6. Avoid public charging stations because potential tampering makes them vulnerable to attack.
  7. Keep your data safe by enabling two-factor authentication.
